SLOW BAL CLUB STOCKHOLM
Are you looking for a dance that brings you joy and freedom on the floor? On Saturday, April 25, we are hosting a dedicated Slow Bal day, centered around this swing dance set to slow jazz music.
Slow Bal invites you to be truly present in the moment. The slower tempo gives you the space to play with the music, discover your creative movements, and deepen the connection with your partner. This is a great chance to take the step towards comfortable dancing at slower tempos.
Sign up for the Slow Bal Club – Stockholm Edition! We offer workshops at two levels, packed with inspiration, technique, and playfulness. After the workshops, you can immediately continue dancing and practicing during our cozy Tea Dance.
Do you already dance Lindy Hop or Balboa? Slow Bal is a great addition to your dance repertoire!
YOUR TEACHERS
Deirdre
Deirdre’s Swing dance journey started with Lindy Hop, but it was Slow Bal that ultimately captured her heart around 2013. She was drawn to its elegant form, the close, upright connection, and its flowing movements. After intensive training and teaching, she launched Slowfeet Studio in 2019, a Swing dance school in Rotterdam completely focussed in Slow Bal and Slow Swing.
Deirdre’s classes are energetic and clear. She excels at making technique understandable and simple and providing personal feedback. Her motto: “Slow Bal is my ultimate form of expression, where every step and beat allows me to truly be myself.” Deirdre is constantly working on building the Slow Bal scene both in the Netherlands and internationally.
Amelie
Amelie started dancing at a young age and has gone through most styles of dancing (from Ballet and Street to Irish solo dancing) but once she tried Balboa in 2014 she fell in love and never looked back. Slow Balboa has slowly grown on her over the years and has become her newfound passion ever since Slow Bal Love in 2024. The connection, flow and intense presence in the moment are some of the elements that speaks to her.
In her day to day life Amelie is a psychologist with a special love for educating and mentoring primary school teachers. Into dance class she brings her knowledge of mentoring, psychology and her sense of humor in order to create a safe – and fun – space for learning together.
Their Slow Bal Love story
Deirdre and Amelie met in Slow Bal Love – a Slow Bal training week – in Prague in 2024. They found each other not only in their love for Slow Bal, but also in their shared sense of humour. While laughing their way on the dance floor and in competitions, they decided to bring Rotterdams Slow Bal Club to Stockholm; in an ever growing wish to grow the love for Slow Bal.
